COVID-19 Ventilation Risk Assessment

Davies Partnership were recently asked by one of our long standing clients Conwy County Borough Council to assist with their Bodlondeb office COVID ventilation risk assessment as part of their return to work plans.

An intelligent COVID ventilation risk assessment was then developed and its design informed by the latest guidance available. A room by room survey was carried out and ventilation rates calculated and measured to ensure they were adequate. Ventilation plant was inspected and measurements taken to ensure no risk of cross contamination between ventilation exhaust and fresh air intakes. Occupant training in the use of ventilation relating to COVID was checked and maintenance regimes interrogated. The risk assessment output is enabling the Client to refine their room occupancy levels and to modify central plant to minimise the risk of cross contamination. The risk assessment provides guidance for occupants as to how to operate their buildings at different times of the year, allowing apertures to progressively close as the outside temperature drops whilst still maintaining the required ventilation rate for COVID aerosol dilution.
