Sunflower House at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital officially opened its doors to the public in May following several years of hard work behind the scenes.
Sunflower House is a new Tier 4 Mental Health Inpatient facility that has been specially designed to care for children and young people aged between 5 and 13 years old who are suffering from mental health issues.
Davies Partnership were delighted to work alongside the Client and Client’s Agent in the M&E Co-ordinator / Verifier Role for the scheme reviewing M&E designs and monitoring installations through construction, commissioning and handover stages.
The facility features a therapy garden, a calming sensory room, an immersive room, a de-stimulation room, a safe kitchen environment, group therapy rooms and classrooms.
The building has a total of 12 specially designed bedrooms along with a family bedroom to provide a safe and high-quality space to stay.
The new unit is the latest addition to Alder Hey’s fantastic healthcare campus and sits alongside the state-of-the-art children’s hospital, the Catkin Centre, the Institute and the Alder Centre.
