University of Chester, Warrington Campus

Project Overview

Davies Partnership surveyed, designed and project managed the installation of two external packaged tank rooms to serve six student halls of residence at University of Chester, Warrington Campus. Each of the blocks housed 48 rooms. The installations within tank rooms comprised of 10,000 litre cold water storage tanks, booster sets, electrolytic scale inhibitor and associated automatic control systems.

Purpose of the works was to provide drinking quality water to all outlets and improve temperatures and pressures of hot and cold water services throughout the halls.

  • 288 Student bedrooms
  • Existing tank rooms removed and made good

Sustainable features:

  • Energy efficient controls

Included in the package systems were the new electrical supplies, BMS and fire alarm links to existing campus infrastructure. The tank rooms were clad with brick slip finish to match existing halls of residence and minimise the aesthetic impact on the site. Associated removal of cold water storage tanks within each hall and replacement of hot water cylinders within White and Regent halls was also part of the works. The client was very clear about the brief and how the project should be programmed to prevent any issues with the continuity of services to the accommodation blocks.
